Redeeming Emirates Awards on Alaska Airlines can be a bit tricky. If we search in advance, we don’t see any Business or First Class flights available, just Economy for 42.5k miles.
However, if we search within 2 weeks of departure, that’s when the award space pops up.
We can even fly in First Class for 150k miles. The thing is, you need to be flexible with your booking dates and be ready to pounce on these great deals.
Alaska Airlines happens to sell their miles a couple times per year and normally you can score miles for around $.017 each. If we bought at this rate, and redeemed at the current rate, we’re getting $.07 point per mile. So we’re getting an extra $.05 per point by cashing in on these mileage sales.
Currently, however, there are no sales, and it’s hard to transfer points to Alaska Airlines, so what we recommend is signing up for the Alaska Airlines Travel Card.
Alaska is currently offering a 40k point welcome bonus, so if you and your partner sign up, you’ll get 80k miles, enough for one business class ticket or two economy tickets.
If you combine these welcome bonuses with any points sale, you’ll be well on your way to scoring this points and miles trip to Dubai.
