Alycia Debnam-Carey Biography
Alycia Jasmin Debnam-Carey was born in July 1993. She grew up in Sydney, New South Wales together with her mother, Leone Carey, a famous writer. Since she was young, she has been performing in her school. In 2003, she already received her first movie role in “Martha’s New Coat.” Right after, she was able to showcase her acting skills on several Australian TV shows namely, “McLeod’s Daughters” and “Dream Life.”
She again appeared on other short films such “Jigsaw Girl,” “At the Tattooist” and “The Branch.”
Sadly, 2010 was not really her best year but she finally graduated high school from Newtown High School of Performing Arts majoring in percussions. She studied a total of 10 years in classical percussion and even won Premiere awards for her skills. She moved to Los Angeles the following year.
When she was 18, she travelled the US as part of a documentary about Australian actors coming to America. She visited several countries and was actually the youngest member of the documentary.
Right after moving to LA, she quickly got an offer from CW pilot TV series as the lead in “The Carrie Diaries.” Not long after, she finally got her first American feature film, “The Devil’s Hand.” 2012, the same year, Alycia became a finalist for the Heath Ledger Scholarship for Australians in film, shortly after losing her role on the CW series. Nothing is stopping her! In 2014, she returned with a new film in a found-footage feature, “Into the Storm,” co-starring Richard Armitage and Sarah Wayne Callies.
Alycia returned to yet another CW series “The 100″ as Commander Lexa on its season 2. Her on-screen romance with Eliza Taylor’s character was a blast than she won the E! Award for Best Guest Star, as well as Best Kiss.
In 2014, she got one of the four main roles on the sister series of “The Walking Dead,” titled “Fear the Walking Dead.” The show is already on its second season.
At the 2015 Comic-Con, it was announced that she would return for the show’s third season to many fans’ approval.
Debnam-Carey is set to appear in a new feature film at the start of 2016, titled “Friend Request.”
