am really excited and have something to share with you. I haven’t come across an amazing new credit card offer until this week, and that’s why I applied yesterday for the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card and got approved.

What made me want to get this card? …
Well, the new Venture Card from Capital One is offering 10x miles on any bookings from Hotels.com/Venture. My Chase Sapphire Reserve only earns 3x miles on travel, so this is 333% better.
But wait, isn’t Capital One just a straightforward $.01 per mile redemption?
Not anymore.
As of December 2019, Capital One now has 14 transfer partners:
12 of the partners transfer points at a 4:3 ratio with Emirates and Singapore transferring at a 2:1 ratio. You guys know I love to fly Singapore Suites Class, which is only 76,000 miles one-way JFK to FRA using Singapore KrisFlyer miles, which equates to 152,000 Venture miles.
Now that we know why I’m so excited about this card, let’s get into the rest of the details on the card.
Capital One is offering a a 50,000 mile sign up bonus once you spend $3,000 in the first 3 months. If you redeem your miles for a straight up redemption, this bonus is worth $500, but if you turn your points into a Singapore Suites Class seat, the miles are worth $4,000. You will need to accrue another 77,000 miles to get the seat, but this bonus makes it much easier.
I have the Barclay Arrivals Mastercard that earns 2X points on all purchases which can be redeemed for travel, which is the exact same offering as this card (so bye bye Barclays), and it shows you how strong this card is, especially since Barclays doesn’t offer any transfer partners.
What’s really cool is all of the credit card issuers are now competing really hard for your business, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Barclay’s didn’t step up their game and make their card much better in the future.
With this 2X earnings power, this will be the card I put all of my non-bonus spending on: like Amazon purchases, gifts for wei, clothes, etc.
The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card Rewards Credit Card Rewards Credit Cards Card will earn 10 miles for every dollar spent as long as you use this link: Hotels.com/Venture, so I would bookmark that link or remember it so you don’t miss out.
Capital One signed a deal going into 2020 with Hotels.com, and if they see the strong consumer response, I think we’ll see this deal get extended into the future. That being said, make sure to mark on your calendar the January 2020 date to see if you need to keep or cancel your card.
So Hotels.com is my preferred booking site. When we stayed at the Belmond Charleston Place, we used Hotels.com. Also, when we stayed at Les Bain Paris, as well as Bill & Coo Mykonos.
The reason I love Hotels.com so much is because of their Hotels.com Rewards program. I am a Hotels.comRewardsSilver, which gives me access to: Secret Prices and 1 night free after 10 nights, but here’s the full list.
Rewards | Silver | Gold | |
---|---|---|---|

Priority customer service | |||
Hassle-free Travel Guarantee | |||

To be able to achieve Gold status, you need to stay 30 nights.
Unlike the Amex Platinum cards that have annual fees in the $550 range, this Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card Rewards Credit Card Rewards Credit Card Rewards card is crushing it with only a $95 annual fee and $0 the first year.
Since this promotion goes until 2020, you’re going to pay one annual fee on this card, which to me is easily offset by the sign up bonus. 50k points are worth at the very least $500, so this pays for many years of annual fees.
If you don’t already have Global Entry, sign up for it now. If you get Global Entry, it gives you TSA Pre-Check as well, but it doesn’t work the other way, so in this case . I wouldn’t even get the TSA Pre-Check.
With this card you get a $100 credit if you use it to pay for your application fee. This credit normally wouldn’t mean anything to me, but this year my Global Entry expired, so I had to renew it so this bonus was actually a plus for me.
Should you get this card? Well, I certainly did and can’t wait to use it.
If you book hotels using Hotels.com or Expedia or any other random website, then this card is for you. If you’re locked into Marriott or SPG or Hyatt and have status, then I would skip this card.
