f you love lush, unbelievably comfortable beds, immaculately decorated decor, destination-worthy cocktails, and an Equinox accessible via a secret elevator just for guests, then you absolutely have to keep reading our full review of the new Four Seasons San Francisco.
San Francisco has only one drawback – ’tis hard to leave..
The lady will have a gin martini and I’ll do a negroni.
Seven years ago, our plan was to move from Gainesville, FL to San Francisco. Wei’s brother lives there and we had a really good network of friends we were going to be joining, but after my business partner effectively wiped us out, and we realized we’d be starting from 0 again, we decided that at our lowest point in our lives it was a good idea to move to New York City.
We’ve been living in New York for seven years and absolutely love it, however, once the weather drops here, we are always looking for an escape, and one of our favorite escapes is San Francisco, for all of the aforementioned reasons.
In addition to the beauty and history of the city, you also have world-class wine and breathtaking beaches just an hour or so away.
For our most recent trip, we had the pleasure of staying at the Four Seasons San Francisco on Market Street. They were kind enough to sponsor our trip in exchange for this review.
The hotel bar and restaurant is the magnificent MKT Restaurant & Bar. Their cocktail menu is superb, and their craft cocktails are described as an “Encyclopedia in a glass.” I loved the Harvey Milk Punch (johnnie walker gold, cereal infused almond & oat milk, amontillado sherry, chocolate bitters, bergamot-vanilla syrup) and the Plaza Vieja was a
great take on a manhattan/negroni (bulleit rye, bertoux brandy, cocchi vermouth orange & all spice liqueur, suius cherry bitters).
From the food menu, you have got to try the sourdough bread service, hiramasa crudo, grilled octopus, and the autumn chicken.
Whenever we have time, we always make a trip out to our favorite vineyard, Papapietro Perry Winery in Healdsburg. They make the best pinot noirs we’ve ever had and we’re also members of their wine club, but it’s always so much more fun to visit the property in person and try out what’s new.
Since we’re homebodies at heart, and we loved the room so much, I spent one day just working from the bed, gazing out the window, and ordering my favorite sandwich in SF, Ike’s Place. You can’t go wrong with any of the sandwiches so long as you get the Dutch Crunch bread.
When we’re traveling, I always pack my workout clothes, and typically they go un-used, but that was absolutely not the case this trip. There is a huge, three floor Equinox in the same building as the hotel. The way you enter the club is by using a private elevator that leads to your own private entrance to the gym.
You don’t have to pay anything extra and you get full access to the gym (classes and eucalyptus towels included). The fact that I can get access to a top-notch gym like Equinox when I stay at this property really has me hyped for our next visit.
Every time we take a trip, we always book a photographer to Capture the amazing memories we make and to always have a memento from our trip. We’ve been running this blog for five years and obviously finding a photographer is a lot easier for us than the average couple, and that’s why we launched Capture.
It’s the easiest way to book a vacation photographer for your trip. We partner with the best photographers in any city and our app makes booking a photographer as easy as pushing a button.
We flew on the new United Polaris Business Class from EWR to SFO and had an amazing time. The new lounge they opened last year is one of the best we’ve been. They make real craft cocktails, they have breakfast lunch and dinner served by a waitstaff and the space is huge, relaxing and has showers and sleeping rooms.
To book the flight, we paid just 50k miles each way for this flight, and with the flight clocking in as high as $4,183 per person, that’s $.08 per point.
To take redeem the flight, we transferred points from Chase Ultimate Rewards. If you want to score 80k of Chase miles by signing up for a credit card with just a $95 annual fee, checkout this CardMatch tool and look for the Chase Ink Cash Preferred.
