This bottle of @beaumontdescrayeres welcome us to our room at the @wsouthbeach. Since it was #ArtBaselMiami2019 and prices were through the roof, we booked the hotel using points.
Wei and I have stayed at this W property for the last 4 years and absolutely love it. It’s blocks away from Broken Shaker, Soho House, 1 Hotel, Lucali, and Sweet Liberty. They’ve got a full gym, basketball court and tennis court.
I have the American Express Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card that gets 3X points on restaurants and flights and 2X points on everything. Since Bonvoy points aren’t worth as much as Chase and Amex, I save all of my restaurant and dining spend for the Amex Gold where I get 4X and travel with my Chase Sapphire Reserve.
But I put all of my non-bonus category spend on this card. So that means things like clothing, Venmo, PayPal.
The price per night during Basel was around $1,985 and since there was no way we could afford that, I used my Bonvoy points. If you stay at any Bonvoy property for 4 nights, the 5th night is free.
Our total stay ended up being 378,269 points, which comes out to $.026 per point for Bonvoy.
Bonvoy points are normally worth $.008 making this a 325% ROI on my points by being smart.
