We found multiple flights to New Zealand leaving from Houston, and looking at those flight times of 15 – 25 hours, it’s a long long flight and very expensive.

We started our search with a land down under airline, Qantas, since it is in the Oceania basin. We were sorely disappointed to find this $1043 flight requires 226.2k points and is only giving you $0.005. This sounds more like a nightmare than a dream.
On our next search, we checked out American Airlines. Their flight at $2358 on a 198k return points trip is giving you paltry $0.013. Not much better than Qantas and certainly not acceptable.
