Fly NYC to London for 26k Points

We found multiple flights between these world class cities. British Airways has the benefit of being the national carrier. Virgin Atlantic has the benefit of being a unique carrier with exceptional service and benefits. We are highlighting Air France at 26k points for exceptional points value at $0.031 per point, flight quality, and bonus points opportunity.

Fly to  London for 40k Points on British

We started our search with British Airways as they are the national carrier. We discovered round trip tickets at 40k. With a price tag of $622 on a non-stop flight, your 40k points are given at $0.016 per point. This is comparable to our other results. However, it is very difficult to transfer points for use with Avios plus the additional fees are half again the price of the flight making this option costly.

Fly to London for 40k Points on Virgin

Next we searched Virgin Atlantic offering their flight also for 40k points. On a $634 ticket, you are getting $0.016 per point, comparable to our first result. This option loses with the astronomical fees associated with the points. The fees are almost like paying again for the ticket.

Fly to London for 45k Points on United

Lastly, we searched United. With a slightly higher ticket price of $648 you are getting $0.014 per point and you require an additional 5k points over the first two options. We were still not thrilled with this option. So we searched again.

Fly New York to London for 26k Points on Air France

By renewing our search, we discovered a golden deal*. An $803 ticket on Air France for a meager 26k points each way which nets you a whopping $0.031 per point. Booking this dream trip goes down as easily as that glass of Guinness waiting for you at a traditional London pub. All around, this is your best option to get to London.

To redeem this flight, easily transfer your points through Chase Ultimate Rewards to Flying Blue.

* Golden deals are dependent on several factors including market demand, availability, pricing errors, and luck. However, by simply clearing the cache and using a different browser you can reset your search and improve your chances of finding a bargain flight.

How to Get 60k More Points to Use on Air France

Based on the current cards you have, our recommendation is to get the Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card, which has a 60k point sign up bonus when you spend $4,000 in the first 3 months, easily enough points for a roundtrip flight to London.

How to Get an Additional 33.3k Points

Based on the current cards you have, our recommendation is to get the Capital One® Spark® Miles for Business credit card which currently has a 50k sign up bonus points once you spend $4,500 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening, to apply to your roundtrip flights to London. An added bonus is their transfer partnership with Flying Blue/KLM.

By combining your Chase Points with Air France points, you have the option to fly Business Class one-way and get even more value out of your journey.

Quick note: Capital One points transfer at a 2:1.5 ratio, so the 50k points we get turn into 33.3k Air France Miles.
