Your Travel Necessity: The Weekend Bag

It may be Monday, but we’re already thinking about the weekend.  Time to put your last ditch efforts in motion and get ready for one more weekend away before summer leaves and fall starts setting in (okay, maybe not officially, but c’mon, we all know when August is over so is summer).   Avoid the overpacking and touristy wheeled suitcases and opt for the perfect weekend bag instead.  Need some help choosing one?  We’ve got you covered.

The High Society

Coated canvas and leather trimmed, Mulberry has created a piece of luggage that will turn heads for years to come.  Sleek enough for the minimalist and manly enough for Bear Grylls, if you’ve got the funds to fork over, this one is a no brainer.

Mulberry, $1,000.

The Soldier

Okay, so it isn’t standard issue or anything, but we can’t help but feel like we’re heading off to serve our country with this tan canvas and leather bag fully packed.  The waxed-cotton sheds dirt and moisture to keep the look in tact, while the sturdy leather keeps it all in one piece.

 J. Crew, $200.

The Blues

As solid in appearance and structure as it is in color.  This cotton and canvas weekend bag from A.P.C. is as crisp as they come.    Small enough to bring to the gym, or large enough to fit a weekends worth of clothing.  Whatever you use it for you’ll have it for years to come.

A.P.C., $220.

The Black and White

Made of sturdy canvas, nylon and suede, this New Jersey made weekend bag is simple and straight forward, in a good way.  I’ve had one for about a year and have used it countless times.  Mine is now full of stains, dirt, scuff marks and god knows what else, and it only looks better with age.

Industry Portage, $129.

The Classic Leather

You can’t beat leather.  Whether it’s a jacket, a bag, or shoes you’re going to get the best quality when only the best material is used.  Of course the highest quality comes with the highest price.  And this full-grain bison leather weekend bag from Parabellum is undoubtably the cream of the crop.  Let us suggest you use this one for your weekend get aways to the city and less for the Hamptons or a hike.

Parabellum, $2,800.

The Steal

Not everyone has hundreds or thousands to throw on a weekend bag, and that’s more than okay; we’ve got the budget restricted crowd covered too.  This 100% cotton bag from H&M stands with the rest of them when we hit on style points, but with a price tag to make anyone smile.  Coming in under $50 this bag is a winner.

H&M, $49.95
