The 6 Essential Men’s Looks for Spring 2014

We held off saying it, just to make sure, but it appears that spring has finally arrived.  The season of beers on the patio, miniskirts on the streets and all new fashion trends is here and we are welcoming it with open arms.  Of course we want all men to embrace the changing seasons as much as we are, and the best way to embrace something is to be ready for it.  Here are the spring trends you need to know to go into this season looking and feeling your best.

1.  The Double-Breasted Blazer

Double-breasted suits and blazers flooded the runways for the Summer/Spring lines and they have already started to follow suit on the streets.  You can attribute it to men wanting to resemble the buttoned up days of our past, or maybe some of Leo’s suits really made an impact on the financial district after the Wolf of Wall Street, either way, we’re on board.

2.  More Than Just Gingham

Gingham checks of all sizes have dominated most mens wardrobes for the last couple of years.  It’s time to change that.  Switch it up this spring with patterns you don’t see every other guy wearing.  Grab some camo, some floral, a form of paisley, or as the gentlemen above did, some great polkadots.

3.  Bomber Jackets

Bomber jackets show up on a regular basis.  They are an excellent fall or spring staple and that isn’t going to change this year.  Get the right one and you can wear it with almost anything.

Where men tend to go wrong is the fit.  Get one that hits at your waistline and is slim in the arms.  Remember, it isn’t a winter jacket and you don’t need to leave room for a chunky sweater underneath it.

4.  All Things Blue

I’m not sure if it is ever accurate to call blue a “trend” but as the Twitter obsessed world would now say, it is definitely trending.  From blue suits, to indigo jeans, to navy suede chukkas, you can’t overdo the blue this season.  Throw on one piece to add some color to an outfit, or rock different shades from head-to-toe, either way you’re on point for spring.

5.  Checked Blazers

While you may see less gingham checks on shirts this spring, you’re going to see a lot more on the outer layer.  Switch your solid blazer for one with a little character.  Wear it with jeans or go for the full suit.  It is the perfect mix of all buttoned up and cool casual.

6.  Standout Kicks

Loafers and bucks are great warm weather shoes, but when you aren’t in the office they aren’t always practical.  If you’re planning to stroll around the city trade in the leather soles for some sneakers, and keep the tops eye-catching.
