The Sardinia Luxury Travel Guide

We just completed another awesome trip to Sardinia, Italy.

We flew there on Lufthansa first class (for free with points), and stayed at an amazing seaside resort with some of the best beaches in the world.

I’m going to break down how you can replicate this trip yourself, and why you should make Sardinia your next trip.

But first, a little history on Sardinia

Sardinia is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean (next to Sicily), and is host to a beautiful landscape. This unique island will totally impress you with its rugged coastline and it also features white-sand beaches, dramatic cliffs and mountain tracks.

You can stay in a glamorous resort or a characteristic house in one of the many medieval vilages, discover ruined castels and ancient churches.

The island is full of eventful history brought by Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Catalans, Pisans, Piemontese. They’ve all took part in shaping this amazing vacation destination where culture flourishes and time seems to slows down.

How to Get There: Lufthansa First Class Using Points

We booked our flight from EWR to OLB (connecting in Munich), using points for first class on Lufthansa.

The flight was just 80,000 miles when booking with Aeroplan.

Here’s how to book First Class with Lufthansa to Europe

To book the flight, transfer 80,000 points from AMEX Membership Rewards to Lufthansa.

Lufthansa releases availability about 2 weeks prior to any flights, so you need to be patient (or flexible) when booking.

Another alternative to booking Lufthansa First Class is to use Aeroplan miles. You can book a one-way for 70,000 miles with Aeroplan. Aeroplan is a transfer partner of American Express and SPG.

Where to eat: Dolceacqua

In 1884 Claude Monet came to Dolceacqua and wrote in his diary: “The location is superb, there is a bridge that is a jewel of lightness.” Dolceacqua offers a fusion of two kitchens and cultures that dominate the island – Ligurian and Sardinian, and it’s truly unique when it comes to their superb cuisine. Where to unwind: Kkult

This designer restaurant and cocktail bar is located on the main pedestrian street of Olbia. A mix of modern and old architecture make this place quite cozy and a great place to relax after you’ve been discovering the city. They offer excellent expresso coffee, good pastries, delicious homemade gelato and a variety of cocktails.
