MAMO Restaurant’s Provençal Dishes & Cocktails Make SoHo Dining a Delicious Experience

Celebrity favorite MAMO restaurant continues to draw locals and visitors alike to New York’s bustling SoHo neighborhood, so naturally we had to try it out ourselves. MAMO New York is the transatlantic sister to Cannes film festival go-to restaurant MAMO Le Michelangelo, a two decades old French Riviera staple and favorite among movie stars and socialites alike. The younger SoHo sibling is run by Italian restauranteur Mike “Mamo” Mammoliti and maintains the same authentic feel and dedication to Provençal flavors as its Antibes namesake. It’s why it attracts a wide array of celebrities, including Rhianna, Magic Johnson, Alexander Wang, Diane Kruger, Samuel L. Jackson, Gigi Hadid, Beyonce and Jay Z.

The restaurant offers a variation of delectable dishes and drinks, with some of the newer menu items that we had a taste of, such as fresh Salmon Carpaccio, a Wild Sea Bass with fingerling potatoes and Stuffed Rabbit Rolls with spinach and foie gras. The dessert menu includes the prepared-to-order Sorbetto al Limone, the perfectly balanced Crème Caramel and a velvety Mousse al Cioccolato. MAMO also offers a selection of homemade cakes, such as the Torta di Meringa e Vaniglia and Torta al Cioccolato. From the cocktail menu we suggest MAMO’s signature sour cherry flavored Amorena, the beautiful lavender Valentina cocktail and the smoky yet elegant Fumeè cocktail – as well as the tart yet sweet homemade Limoncello.

Aside from the traditional southern Italian/French cuisine, we also enjoyed an intimate yet elegant setting. The bi-level restaurant includes a casual lounge on the ground floor and a formal dining room upstairs. Both spaces capture the Riviera’s “sense of home” with original family photos and oversized vintage movie posters. The decor also incorporates classic New York-inspired touches such as exposed brick walls which gives it a hip mood.
