Today we are helping a couple book a dream trip and fly Business to Japan and Thailand. We are excited about helping to plan this dream trip because both of these destinations are absolutely amazing. Tokyo is our favorite city and boasts the Sensō-ji Temple as well as the National Museum of Tokyo.
Thailand offers many exceptional experiences like the Wat Arun Buddist Temple, fabulous shopping at Siam Discovery and relaxation over cocktails at the State Tower’s Lebua 3, the world’s tallest gin, caviar and vodka bar.

2 people. We’re considering one week in Japan and one week in Thailand. Dates would be late October to early November. Dates are flexible but saturday departure and sunday return make the most sense, unless there is substantial savings by using other days. My goal is fly with no out-of-pocket costs if possible, but if an upgrade to business class or first class isn’t outrageous, I’ll do it.

We found several flights from the NYC area to Bangkok. We have three comparable options that could have you flying for as low as 80k points or only putting out a $95 fee per person.
Fly NYC to Japan and Thailand for 80k Points on Ana
We searched Ana Airlines and although the Business Class seats were all waitlisted, we found a $7,100 economy dream trip for 80k points plus a $218 fee per person. This option is giving you $0.089 per point. While this is not a Business Class option, Ana Airlines does provide exceptional service and this is a low points cost but with a slightly higher fee.
To redeem this flight, simply log in to your ANA mileage club and book your reward.
Fly Business NYC to Japan and Thailand for 215k on United
We searched United Airlines and found a $16,000 Business Class flight for 215k points plus $113 fee per person. This option is giving you $0.079 per point. This option will save you about half the fee but takes a hefty number of points to fly Business Class.
To redeem this flight, log in to your Chase Ultimate Rewards Portal to book your Business Class flight.
Fly NYC to Japan and Thailand for 95k on United
We searched United Airlines again for Economy flights to get the points and fees down. We discovered a $6,700 flight going for 95k points plus a $95 fee per person. This option is giving you $0.071 per point. Here you are taking a hit on the per points price but you are saving 40k points per person over the United Business Class. You are spending an additional 15k points per person over the Ana Air option but saving $123 per person on fees.
To redeem this flight, simply log in to your Chase Ultimate Rewards Portal to book this flight.
How to Get 60k Points to use on United
Based on the current cards you have, our recommendation is to get the United Explorer card which has a 60k sign up bonus, towards a Round trip flight to Japan and Thailand.
