Winter.
I was sitting in a tattoo shop on the Lower East Side yesterday afternoon when I realized it started snowing out. Given I hadn’t seen this in a while it brought a slight smile to my face, I put my head down, and didn’t think about it much more.
Several hours went by and we took a break from the ink, so I walked over and looked out the window again. It was still snowing.
Beautiful.
Except, I quickly realized, I need some new snow boots. Shit.
So far all those who are as unprepared as I am in the middle of January, here are the best winter boots for men you can buy right now… before you ruin all your other kicks.
L.L. Bean Original Duck Boot
Simple, no fuss, and stylish. Exactly the way we like ’em.
These work with your slim cut pants and keep your feet warm and dry without being ridiculously oversized. That’s all we’ve ever wanted.
Available at L.L. Bean, $109.
Timberland Britton Hill Leather & Tweed
If you’re hesitant to go full snow boot, this is our favorite option. Wool linings to keep your toes from falling off, tweed and leather on the outside to keep them as stylish as they are practical.
Available at Macy’s, $170.
Sorel Cheyanne Full Grain Leather Boots
If you’re one of the poor bastards who has to shovel your driveway on a regular basis, you’re going to want something that goes high enough to keep the snow from getting in.
We love the classic look of these Sorel’s, and when you add the full grain leather to set them apart from the pack we’re sold.
Available at Bloomingdales, $125.
Sperry’s Cold Bay Camo Boots
Not all boots come in brown, and these are the perfect example.
Available at Sperry, $119.
UGG Boysen TL Waterproof Boots
A great alternative to the standard duck boot. These work with your jeans, your chinos, your suit, and everything in between. Plus, the inside has that amazing UGG wool lining your girlfriend has been obsessed with for years. You’ll soon understand why.
Available at Bloomingdales, $200.
