National Men’s Grooming Day: Your Opportunity to Completely Transform Your Look

Although women’s grooming is often talked about in the media, there is an equally large and enthusiastic market out there for men’s grooming.

It is no longer socially acceptable for men to leave the house looking like an unkempt neanderthal, yet there’s still some sort of stigma attached to a man who wants a luxury grooming experience.

Brands like American Crew®, which are committed to helping men incorporate style into their everyday lives, are proof that there is a market for this… And it’s a market that grows every single day.

As a matter of fact, according to Statista, the global market for men’s grooming as a whole is estimated to be worth somewhere around $21.4 billion.

Not too shabby, right?

It isn’t all about the money, though. American Crew®, one of the world’s most innovative and unique men’s grooming brands on the market right now, started their business because they were discouraged by the number of women-only salons popping up around the world in the mid-80’s and 90’s. As an exclusive men’s grooming brand, they wanted to show that grooming doesn’t have to be for just women.

For 15 years now American Crew® shares its love for men’s grooming with the world, and hopes that others will fuel their passion for it as well.

If you need an excuse to get started in the grooming world, we’ve got a great one for you.

The third Friday in August is always Men’s National Grooming Day, which is a day that both encourages men everywhere to buy and use grooming products while also encouraging salons and grooming companies to provide discounts to their customers.

This year, the highly underrated holiday falls on August 19th. This means you have an entire month to prepare yourself for all of the hair gelling, beard trimming, and eyebrow tweezing that will take place.

It’s not just that, either. Men take everything from their jean cuts to their hairstyles very seriously, and it’s about time they get noticed.

If you are looking to get the 411 on how to get one of this summer’s hottest hairstyles, or perhaps you just want to read a few fail proof grooming tips, you’ve come to the right place.

Our Go-to Hair Products

For me, I like to use two products for my hair. A clay, that gives me texture and provides hold, and a pomade that provides me with some shine and when I run my hands through my hair, it allows my hair to get un-crinkly, which I hate about gel and more firm products.

I got introduced to American Crew® way back in high school, and have been a heavy user of their products ever since then.

Now that I’m working with them to tell you about their new line of Elvis pucks, it’s awesome to be able to promote a brand I love.

The Pompadour – Elvis Presley

National Men’s Grooming Day (1)

Elvis arguably ushered in the age of male grooming and sexiness, and this hairstyle is more popular than ever right now.

This look can easily be replicated if you know what to tell your barber. Make sure to let him know that you want to keep it high and tight on the side, but long on the top. The best thing about this haircut is you can dress it up by adding a side part or leave it messy for those long summer weekends.

Keep the style going strong by washing your hair with American Crew® Daily Shampoo. The formula is created with all kinds of natural extracts like Sage Leaf and Chamomile that not only keep your hair looking healthy, but smelling great too. Follow with American Crew® Daily Conditioner which has peppermint oil and rosemary to soothe and refresh the hair and scalp.

These ingredients add sheen and moisture to otherwise dull and dry hair, which makes it the perfect way to keep your pompadour looking impressive as ever.

Top 3 Grooming Tips For Men

1. Don’t be afraid to touch up your eyebrows.

Seriously. Women tweeze their eyebrows without a second thought, so why can’t men do the same? The stigma attached to this is absolutely ridiculous and shouldn’t be taken seriously. You have two eyebrows, so there is no reason that you should be walking around with a unibrow just because you don’t want to pluck a few hairs. If you don’t trust yourself to do the deed and you don’t want to go to a salon and ask for a full blown eyebrow wax, you can still ask your barber to trim those bushy caterpillars on your face.

2. Don’t be afraid to tell your barber what you want.

A lot of times, we’re afraid to really start talking to our barber. But let’s be honest here: they have your entire look in the palm of their hand. Literally. If you want something, don’t be afraid to say so, and make sure that you get your point across clearly and concisely. Your barber will never be bothered if you want to provide them with pictures, as this helps them visualize your desired look much better. If your barber does something that you don’t like, don’t be afraid to speak up and say so. They want you to keep coming to them, so you need to make sure that your relationship is an open and honest one.

3. Listen to what your skin is trying to tell you.

If you see yourself breaking out in common acne spots (your back, for example), chances are that you need to switch up your body wash. If your skin is starting to flake and/or break out, you may need to stop washing your face with whatever you are currently using. Remember that oily skin has a special kind of face wash and the same goes for dry skin, so it’s all about finding the right balance for you and your body.
