Play Tennis, Sip Bespoke Cocktails & More At This Modern Resort in the Caribbean

We stayed at the Zemi Beach House Resort in Anguilla the week before Thanksgiving 2016 and we recommend it to anyone who wants to be ushered into pure relaxation.

The property itself is stunning. It’s killing it on TripAdvisor, with a 5 star rating with 87 reviews.

We booked the hotel during one of Jetsetter’s sales and paid just $350 per night for everything below.

The cocktails were spot on. @ThreadTherapy is sipping a Zemi Colada, which was made from Mount Gay Black Barrel with the touch of Amsterdam Bols Blue Curacao for the blue color.

It was strong, frosty and I’d say the best beachside cocktail I’ve ever had.

Zemi Beach House: The Property

The beach was literally 5 feet away from the property offering amazing views of the ocean. Just look at all the shades of blue you can see in the water.

The hotel was completed in 2015, and like any new hotel, everything is new. It features 54 guest rooms and nine two- and three-bedroom suites, and beachfront boutique resort welcomes guests in contemporary Caribbean style. There is an onsite tennis court, which is always great on any vacation, especially if you’re an active kind. There are 2 pool areas, with one being adults-only. The adults only pool, however, has a great view of the building directly in front of it. You can’t see the beach, but on the plus side, there are no kids.

Zemi Beach House Rooms

The 54 guest rooms are beautifully decorated, furnished in soft neutrals, light woods and crisp white bedding, accented by contemporary fixtures, finishes and fretwork. The rooms are large, and almost all face the sea. For the most part, they are set back from the sea, so you can see it, but you can’t hear the sound of the waves, which to me is a necessary luxury when staying at an island resort.

All rooms feature WiFi, private furnished balconies or terraces, 24-hour room service, wireless Bluetooth sound systems, motion-sensor climate control, Caribbean personalized minibar, pop up TV and Malin + Goetz bath amenities.

The bathroom is massive, and has both a soaking tub and a standup shower which is great.

Zemi Beach House Food

There are two restaurants and three bars at the Zemi Resort.

Not expecting much, we were pleased with the selections. We stuck mostly with can’t miss items like:

Spinach hummus with naan – despite being in the Caribbean, this dish was good, perfect to be washed down with a rum old fashioned.
Fish tacos – good, not great, could use more actual fish in the tacos and less tortillas.
Calamari  – good, had us eating almost all of it.
Tiki old fashioned – substitute rum for whiskey, and almond syrup instead of sugar, and this is an addicting, strong cocktail that more hotels should adopt.
Zemi margarita – Don Julio, Cointreau, and lime, can’t get any simpler, but so much better than the super sweet margaritas that use triple sec.

Zemi Beach House Specialties and Excursions

A must try is the Zemi Thai House Spa – a sanctuary of private spa suites, a meditation garden and yoga deck. Here you can truly forget about the world and stop time. As the winner of Worlds best new resort spa 2016 they offer a team of trained therapists which provides a range of holistic treatments, including rejuvenating facials, marine salt scrubs, tropical scrubs and massages designed to improve circulation, hasten detoxification and release everyday tension. A mud ara, rainfall showers and vitality pool complete the pampering facilities.

As an addition you can try out their yoga classes, wellness boutique, juice bar and an elaxation deck with view over Shoal Bay Beach. Advanced healing rituals, body massages, advanced beauty and body treatments are one of the best you will ever try out.

There is no fear to ever get bored on the island, Zemi Beach House Resort offers a wide range of activities to keep your days busy and adrenaline level high. From golf to kite surfing to deep sea fishing, you can truly experience the vacation your way. You can also choose between many of the resort’s excursions and explore the gorgeous island. Take a hike on a coast-to-coast nature trail, plan a day trip to the chic, French-speaking island of St. Bart’s, visit the pristine Fountain Cavern National Park, take a peek at the Heritage Collection Museum, set on a sunset cruise or take one of the many island tours.

If you enjoy the salty sea, then you have to go sailing and snorkeling to the off shore cays on the island, deep sea fishing, kite surfing and swimming with dolphins.

Zemi Beach House Price

One night at Zemi Beach House Resort will cost around $800, depending on your time of travel. We booked with Jetsetter, during a sale, so make sure to check that out. In time of their sale, you can book a room for as little as $530/night.

Directions

Getting to Anguilla is easy! We flew from JFK to SXM (St. Martin), and the concierge scheduled a quick 20 minute speed boat to drive us directly to Anguilla.

Once we were on the island, we went through customs, which took all of 5 minutes, and then were whisked into our private taxi to take us directly to Zemi Beach. The total taxi ride was about 30 minutes.
