Uber is now charging $1 for all rides in UberX as a way to pay for background checks and extended screening for these drivers. Hopefully this leads to higher quality and safer drivers.
So it raises the question, is Uber about to overload us with fees like the airline industry?
Suddenly is water going to cost $1 when the drivers offer it to us? Will having 4 people in a car now cost an extra $1?
We can expect to see Uber start raising its prices as it wedges out the competitors, but hopefully this is a step in the right direction and the experience gets better.
Until then, at least we still have the $20 off your first Uber ride coupon for anyone who hasn’t been jaded by Uber yet.
