How to Recreate Duke Dumont’s I Got U Thailand Virtual Vacation for Real

Duke Dumont – I got u from Remy Cayuela on Vimeo and on Youtube.

There’s nothing we want more than to escape these foggy days that turn into night before you can even say: “I”. If despite the workload and frosty weather you still can’t accept it’s Winter and are still secretly humming to the beats of one of the most popular tunes this Summer, while filing piles of documents, then you really should do something about it. Coconut cocktails, sunburned skin and salty water all sound too good to be true right now, not to mention a magical device that would transport you to a tropical paradise in a matter of seconds. While we unfortunately do not possess such powerful toll (can someone please invent it for real!) we did find the exact location where Duke Dumont’s ‘I Got U’ video was filmed. Start packing your trunks, we’re going to Thailand!

We’ve got a similar guide on how to make your wedding the ultimate vacation.

1. Book The Same Villa From The Video in Thailand

In one of the most exotic locations (not only in Thailand, but the entire world) Phuket, you’ll find Villa Lomchoy, the magnificent set of Duke Dumont’s hit ‘I Got U’ (where the video was actually filmed). The name of this luxurious villa means ‘Home blessed by a light breeze’, wich certainly gets away how your vacation will unfold. The enchanting oceanfront retreat of unsurpassed comfort, style and tranquility is everything that you’ve seen in the video, minus the Playboy worthy girls. You’ll have to arrange those for yourself, but with so much beauty on the island, we’re sure that won’t be a problem.

With 4 Bedrooms and 5 Bathrooms Villa Lomchoy has everything you need for a relaxed vacation, or if you want to recreate the virtual trip for real, everything for a crazy pool party. Striking outdoor decks surrounding the infinity-edge swimming pool are the perfect setting for sunbathing, cocktail toasting and glazing into the azure-colored horizon of the Andaman Sea.

Just don’t forget to Instagram it! If you want to move the party inside, spacious and elegantly decorated living, dining, and sleeping areas with subtle Asian furnishings and modern conveniences, will offer enough opportunities for all the party activities. Serviced by a full time, live-in staff consisting of one cook and one housekeeper, you really won’t need to worry about the day after.

Book This Villa Instead, Also in Thailand

If you want to make a step forward and change the Duke Dumont’s tune into something more Pitbull appropriate, then we suggest you take a look at Celadon Villa in Maenam, Koh Samui. With cutting edge architecture and luxurious interiors, this villa is perched on a secluded hilltop with stunning views to the neighboring islands Koh Phangan and Koh Tao.

For $1,000 – $1,800 /night this luxury retreat can make all your music video fantasies come to life.

Personally we like this villa more. The white on white is unreal.

2. How to Book First Class Flights to Thailand with Points

How to Book First Class Flights to Thailand with Points (7)

You’ve got the villa, now it’s time to book that flight. This is Life, Tailored, and if we’re going to go on a trip, we do it up big. We’re not trust fund babies who can just throw away thousands on flights, so instead we find a way to get the best for less.

You can book first class flights like this Thai Air flight with points, making a $16,000 flight cost around $500 (including taxes and fees). So here’s the best way to get from the US to Thailand in First Class: Life, Tailored Style.

Best Flight from US to Thailand in First Class

Of course we’re here to make sure you book the most optimal option. We suggest you book a first class flight from Paris to Bangkok with Thai Airways. You can make a booking as a part of a nine segment US Airways award to Asia, connecting in Europe both ways for only 120k miles in First Class. We recently covered 23 ways to earn free airline miles without taking a trip if you need help racking up the points.

The award relies on US Airways’ cheap award chart and their agents allowing extremely lax routing. Start collecting US Airways miles with the US Airways Premier World MasterCard, with 30,000 US Airways miles after first purchase and you’ll be on your way to Thailand in no time.

Here’s the VIP treatment you’re getting with Thai Airways:

3. Plan Out Some Awesome Excursions via TripAdvisor

When traveling abroad TripAdvisor is your best bet (I wish Yelp worked, but sadly most restaurants/bars only have a handful of reviews).

nai-harn-beach

This is beautiful Nai Harn Beach, 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor with 766 reviews guarantees you’re going to have an amazing time here.

Here’s the full list of activities in Phuket to continue the planning.

4. Film The Entire Trip with a GoPro

After initially not understanding the need for another camera (hell my iPhone 6 Plus takes amazing photos), I recently got a GoPro. You see, with the GoPro, I have no hesitation taking it with me kayaking (which I would never take my iPhone), swimming, climbing down a cliff, etc. and the fact that I can take my GoPro with me it enables me to capture all the great moments in any trip.

gopro-4-silver-review

I recommend the GoPro Hero 4 Silver, this retails for $399 ($100 less than the most expensive Black version), and has everything you really need:

  • 4K HD which basically results in super sharp videos that your 1080p TV can’t even display to its full resolution
  • An LCD screen in the back so you can ensure you’re actually capturing your subject as opposed to cutting off part of their head

With your GoPro I also suggest grabbing a headstrap, and extra SD cards and batteries.

5. Plan Your Trip Now

Life is all about looking forward to things. Whether it be trips, parties, weddings or milestones. That’s why we suggest booking trips far ahead of time. It’s scientifically proven to increase your enjoyment of the experience because you get to fantasize about how great it’s going to be for an extended period of time.

Hope you enjoy!
