Use These Tricks to Get a Discount On Your Next AirBNB

Have you ever wanted to get discounts on your next AirBNB? Well here are tricks that might help you out!

1. Use other users wish lists to find the best possible unit

AirBNB is far removed from being a tiny startup with only people’s couches listed on it.

I mean have you ever tried to find a place on there without having to browse through 5-6 pages of results?

The little trick we found is that you can search people’s wish lists on Google.

Not only do these wish lists save you time, they also open up the best deals on Airbnb properties.

So use somebody else’s work to save you time and money on your next AirBNB booking.

Keep reading for some more great tips, where we show you how to get Verified, which gives hosts an incentive to give you a bigger discount and perks not available to regular users.

2. If you will be needing a place immediately, filter by “Instant Book”

It’s not a big of a deal to just show up at a hotel with a vacancy, but Airbnb is going to require some advance planning. Still, it’s not impossible to find a good place to stay at the last minute, and you don’t have to go through the whole back-and-forth conversation with a host. If a listing is already labeled as an “Instant Book,” it means approval from the host isn’t a requirement before you are able book them — you simply are going to work out the check-in details with the host after you’ve booked.

3. Check the things that are being recommended by the AirBNB team.

Airbnb has an entire team curating recommended listings under a wide variety of themes; you are able to find them under the section, that is somewhat hidden “Airbnb Picks,” which can be a great help when you’re looking for some inspiration for your next vacation.

4. Get verified, officially.

This is going to seem like common sense, but if you would like to convince a stranger to let you stay in their home unattended, you should do everything that you can do in your power to come across as an upstanding citizen who definitely won’t turn their house into a brothel or meth den. That would mean optimizing your profile with a smiling photo and a very detailed bio. To also improve your odds of scoring first-choice listings, you should also consider becoming officially verified by Airbnb. It’s a very simple process that would involve submitting some more advanced forms of ID (a passport, license, etc.), which conveys to hosts that you’re not an impostor. In fact, most hosts won’t even consider you as a guest if you’re not verified.

5. If you are going on a business trip, book company trips with AirBNB

On your next business trip, forget the sterile Courtyard Marriott and depressing dinner at Bennigan’s for a cool and homey Airbnb with a kitchen that is stocked. Convince the company that you are working for to sign up for Airbnb for Business, and instead of some lame three-star hotel room you can expense entire apartments with “business-ready” amenities (Wi-Fi, 24-hour check-in, a stocked kitchen, etc.) You are able to get a $50 credit toward any subsequent booking the first time.

6. You should dish out compliments and reference details (specific).

Yes, this does sound obvious, but hear me out: if you want to get on the good side of a person that you don’t know who’s going off very little information to decide whether they should hand the keys to their precious castle over to you for a weekend — you are gonna need to get personal. Make it clear to them that you really, really care about being able to stay at their place. Reference very specific details about their space and compliment particular elements in their photos.

7. Never be afraid to haggle

Once you’ve got a nice back-and-forth conversation going with your potential host, and you have a good feeling they’re going to approve your request to stay in their place, try putting in a line like, Your place seems incredible and I would love to stay here, but it’s just slightly out of my budget. Would you ever consider coming down in price to this price? Sure, it’s shameless, but it won’t hurt to ask.
