Did you know that the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament was created and designed because of an extramarital affair?

1. The iconic hood ornament — the  Spirit of Ecstasy —  is the result of an illicit affair.

The Spirit of Ecstasy is also called as “Emily”, “Silver Lady” and “Flying Lady” that symbolize or form  a woman named Eleanor Thornton and designed by English Sculptor Charles Robinson Skyes. It was manufactured by the British firm. Eleanor has a decade- long open secret affair with a man. Her lover was both wealthy and wanted a nice hood ornament. She has her finger to her lips that symbolizes their secret love.

2.The Spirit of Ecstasy is worth $40 million.

During 2002, the BMW bought the Rolls-Royce. The ornament was owned by the Volkswagen. The BMW paid $40 million to put and design the winged lady of Rolls- Royce on the front.

3. And you can get it in gold or illuminated crystal.

If you are afraid of thieves out there, the Spirit of Ecstasy and the grill can be lowered down.

4. Charles Stewart Rolls, one half of the eponymous carmaker, was the first man to fly across the English Channel and back.

Charles Steward Rolls is an avid Avior. In 95 minutes he flew Wright Flyer over the channel and back.

5. In 1906, he won the world’s most famous motorcycle race using a car.

During 1906, there was a category for cars then Charles Rolls competed two cars and won. Nowadays, one of the bucket list items for any motorcycle enthusiast is the Isle of Man.

6.He was also the first Brit to die in a plane crash.
