y favorite part of the year is fast approaching and with it comes the pageantry of horse racing. This year will be the 151st running of the Belmont Stakes. It’s the final leg of the Triple Crown and the most exciting race in all of horse racing.

In celebration of the race, I’ve partnered with the NYRA (New York Racing Association) to give you tips on how to dress to impress. Be sure to bookmark the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival, June 6-8, featuring 8 Grade 1 Stakes races on Belmont Stakes Day! Keep reading for simple style tips that will have you looking your best come race day.

It’s All About The Hat

There are few and far occasions when you can go all-out with your hat, and the Belmont, Derby and Preakness are one of them. Whether you are custom building a headpiece or shopping off the rack, the options are endless and the most important part is to have fun with the process and find one that speaks to you. I’ve chosen a more simple hat that can be dressed up or down with multiple outfits.

Outfit 1: If you prefer something a little more dressy, you’ll love this pink satin set. It screams spring and is so comfortable. I opted for a nude lip to go along with the effortless chic look.

Nothing More Classy

Outfit 2: To me, there is nothing more classy than lace. For a more formal look, I’ve opted for this adorable halter lace cocktail dress.

Prints FTW

Outfit 3: You can never go wrong with print! For a more sleek and casual look, I’ve paired high wasted structured gingham pants with a linen asymmetrical top. Adding a pop of red lipstick + the hat will make for a dramatic look.

My first Belmont Stakes was a couple years ago and I had no idea what to expect. We had General Admission tickets and ended up picnicking in the backyard and doing a ton of standing. Had I known this, I definitely would have packed flats or a more moderate heel. So when planning your outfit, make sure you’re comfortable, because it’s a long day and as beautiful as you may look, your feet may be begging you for mercy by the end of the day.
