Four Great Ways to Kill Time While On a Layover

Everybody loves a good holiday. Many people take on extra work, do more hours or take overtime to be able to pay for a good couple of weeks away each year. It is the light at the end of the tunnel for those who regularly frequent the morning crush on the commute to work or sit in the traffic around the M25.

But for every holiday there is a journey, sometimes tedious, sometimes not but all taking time. So here are our top four suggestions of how to pass the time on the way to your vacation.

Listen to Music

Listening to a good tune or album is a great way to pass some hours on a long journey through Europe and has the added bonus of being completely in your own hands. If you plan the trip in advance then you will no doubt have already selected your favourite tunes and downloaded them to your device before you leave your house. Not surprising considering music sales were up by 17% in 2017 and streaming went up by 48%.

Download a quality gambling app

There are so many good apps out there you are bound to be able to find a couple that are more than decent time killers. There are plenty of gambling apps for Android users with a wide and varied range of features such as sports betting apps for football, horse racing or other sports as well as apps for casino slots. The great thing about these apps is the variety of them means that no matter what your tastes there will be one out there to suit you. If you are traveling by ferry or on a cruise then you can make good use of the wifi offered by many ferry companies including P&O and Brittany Ferries to name but two.

Watch a movie while travelling

Passing the time while heading to your holiday destination by watching a movie is now one of the most popular forms of entertainment while jet-setting. There are now more and more ways to do this. If you are travelling by ferry then you can make use of the on board cinema. If you are traveling by airplane then there is the classic in-flight entertainment that often offers a wide choice of movies.

There are now several in-car movie playing devices such as the classic DVD player or the more advanced hard drive devices that allow you to download your favorite films to watch later. These are easy to attach to the rear seats of most vehicles and some cars come with them already built in.

I’m a big fan of using my iPad and loading it up with Tivo shows I’ve recorded or using Netflix’s offline mode to download full seasons of shows to binge while on the plane.

Play a game of eye spy

This last choice is for those traditionalists and is best for long car journeys with ever changing scenery. It is also completely free and has the bonus of requiring no additional luggage just a great eye and a bit of imagination.

So there you have it, four great ways to pass the time while travelling to your vacation. Next time you are looking for something to while away the hours before you reach your holiday paradise why not try a couple of these for yourself?
