I first became familiar with Every Man Jack back in 2007 when they launched in my local Target. Going back to 2007, Wei and I were just graduating from college at the University of Florida in Gainesville and back then I didn’t have any of the knowledge I have today, but what I did know is this product was different than anything I’d seen before.
First, the packaging. Clean, sleek, wood inspired, which takes its cue from Every Man Jack sticking to clean ingredients, being cruelty-free and environmentally-friendly manufacturing techniques all made here in the US of A.
Then, take into account that the fragrances are on-point, and having just received a new shipment of their latest products, I can tell you that the products smell just as good as they did 13 years ago.
A lot has changed, for the better, and with temps hitting 90s here in New York, I’m really excited about the Every Man Jack sunscreen.
But before I get into why I love these products, I want so share with you some insights into sunscreen and breakdown SPFs. Last month I was on a demo with one of the top skincare Doctors and he broke down for me what SPF is best and why.
Prior to him dropping this knowledge, I would always go for the highest SPF. Wei knows I would always put on SPF100, get a good tan but my skin would feel so scaly. Here’s why…
To calculate SPF, it’s a simple formula.
1. Cover skin with sunscreen
2. How many seconds does it take for the skin to slightly redden
3. Divided by how many seconds it takes to redden without sunscreen
Say it took 300 seconds for skin to burn with sunscreen, and 10 seconds to burn without it. 300 is divided by 10, which is 30. The SPF is 30.
Bigger is not always better. SPF50 filters 98% of UVB, and SPF30 filters 96.7%.
There is only a 1.3% difference between SPF50 and SPF30
The thing is, when it comes to how the different sunscreens feel on your skin (which impacts how likely you’ll want to re-apply), it’s vastly different. SPF50+ is so much thicker to achieve that 1.3% better coverage that it oftentimes is counter-productive to protecting your skin.
I sanitize my hands every time we touch anything outside, which leads to my hands often being super dry. That’s why I love the Citrus Hand Sanitizer from Every Man Jack.
Of course it has ethanol making it 99.9% effective against germs plus its got Coconut Oil to moisturize my hands and Lemon essential oils to keep them refreshed.
Have you ever driven all the way to the beach and once you get there realized you forgot to pack the sunscreen? I’ve been there and that’s why I love products like the SPF50 Face Shield Stick.
It’s small enough to fit in your everyday carry plus with SPF50 its overkill protection to make up for forgetting your normal bottle of sunscreen.
The Every Man Jack 2-in-1 shampoo+conditioner has coconut-derived surfactants that help clean hair from root to end, while glycerin and shea butter condition and soften your hair.
Like all their products, it’s natural. 96% of the ingredients are naturally derived.
My skin gets dry and flaky in the mornings, and that’s why I need a face lotion designed to first heal and then protect my skin.
Every Man Jack’s SPF20 Face Lotion has Chamomile and Cucumber to soothe my skin, organic Aloe to hydrate, and Vitamins C and E protect my skin.
If you’ve looked in the mirror and your skin doesn’t look as good as it used to, its due to a lack of collagen. One of the top ways to get more collagen is by rubbing Vitamin C directly on your skin. Try out this product every day and after 2 weeks you should see some improvements, I know I did.
