Flight Hacks

Los Angeles to Singapore for just 38k Miles with a Free Stopover in Tokyo

One of our favorite spots in Southeast Asia is Singapore. We once spent two straight days without ever leaving the Marina Bay Sands complex. We gambled, lounged at the most beautiful infinity pool in the world, and ate at three of their amazing restaurants.

The best thing about Singapore is that it’s a major International Airport hub. You can find flights to Japan, Australia and pretty much anywhere in-between.

Flights from LAX to SIN clock in at 17 hours, and we’ve found availability for a flight to Singapore, with a free stopover in Tokyo for just 38k miles.

If you want to take a flight with points, fill out our Free Dream Trip: Free Credit Card Consultation, and you will see your report produced just like this one.

Our Recommendation

We start every search by hopping on Google and looking for the shortest, most direct flight. We found multiple flights from LAX to SIN for around $1,000. If we do a straight-up points value, at 38k miles that gives us $.026 point per mile.

38k Singapore KrisFlyer Miles

We hopped over to one of our favorite carriers, Singapore Airlines, and started looking for availability. I like to use the 7-day window to find the best Saver Award availabilities. We couldn’t find a direct flight on Saver, but we were able to find a free stopover in Japan on the way to Singapore.

Stopovers are a great way to travel to multiple destinations and really maximize the value of your flights.

Transfer Amex or Chase Points to KrisFlyer

To transfer points to Singapore Air, our preferred programs are the Chase Ultimate Rewards and American Express Membership Rewards.

Each program transfers points instantly or in under 24 hours and both transfer at a 1:1 ratio.

How to Get 100k Chase Points

Based on the current cards you have, our recommendation is to get the Chase Ink Business Preferred Credit Card, which has an 100k sign up bonus, after you spend $15k in the first 3 months, easily enough points for a roundtrip flight to London with bonus points left over for a trip to Brazil.

We offer this service for free, so please sign up using our credit card link to support more free consultations.

Right now we’re offering FREE Credit Card Consultations, so fill this out and let us know how we can help you plan your Dream Trip.
