Today we are helping a client fly to the Philippines for 80k points. We loved Manila for its mix of colonial architecture and modern skyscrapers. Our stay at The Bay Leaf Intramuros was nothing short of stellar with luxurious accommodations and amazing cuisine. This property, located within the city walls, made it easy for us to explore the city.

We found many flights to the Philippines without a stopover in China, as requested. We are highlighting the United Airlines flight.
We began our search with Delta Airlines which offered a number of flights with Economy availability. This $900 ticket goes for 174k points giving you a measly $0.005 per point for an Economy ticket. We discarded this prospect and continued searching.
Searching KLM found us a better rate than Delta. The 92k points is reasonable however the steep €182 fee prompted us to continue our search.
Korean Air offered better alternatives and the 42.5 each way. On this $632 Economy flight you are getting a measly $0.014 per point. We think we can do better.
We searched United Airlines and were fortunate enough to find a $632 flight going for a cool 80k points round trip with a nominal fee. This option is giving you $0.008 per point. This option is a better value given the savings of 5k points each plus the huge difference in fees.
To redeem this flight, simply transfer points through your Chase Ultimate Rewards portal.
Based on the current cards you have, our recommendation is to get the Chase Sapphire Preferred, which has a 60k point sign up bonus with a $4,000 spend within the first 3 months, to apply on your round trip flight to Manila.
Based on the current cards you have, our recommendation is to get The Platinum Card from American Express, which currently offers a 60k welcome bonus after spending $5,000 within the first 3 months. See if you’re able to get a 100k welcome bonus through CardMatch, easily enough points for a round-trip flight to Manila with points to spare.
