Fly to Oahu for 110k Points on Hawaiian

We began our search with the Hawaiian Airlines as it is the national carrier for Hawaii. Since they do not fly out of MDT, we selected JFK as the departure city. We were disappointed to find that a $960 flight is a staggering 110k points and gives you a puny $0.008 per point. We continued searching closer to home.

Fly to Oahu for 71.5k Points on Delta

We continued our search with Delta Airlines and found a $1,155 flight for 71.5k points giving you $0.016 which still requires too many points and is a poor points value.

Fly to Oahu for 22.5k Points on United

We searched United Airlines and found a $985 flight for just 22.5k points each way flying out of LGA. This option is using half the points of flying out of MDT and gives you a good $0.044 per point.

Based on the current cards you have, our recommendation is to get the Chase Sapphire Preferred, which has a 60k point sign up bonus, when you spend $4,000 in the first 3 months, easily enough points for a round trip flight to Hawaii with points to spare for future trips.

We have put together five reasons the Chase Sapphire Preferred should be your first travel credit card.
