We began our search with British Airways to get a flight from LAX to Vienna connecting through London. This flight which prices up at $647 in Economy, converts to 45.5k points plus $364 which is giving you a mere $0.014 per point. Between the exorbitant fees and poor points return this is not an inviting option.
LAX to Vienna, London Connect on American for 45k Points
Next we searched American Airlines. We found a $1,299 flight. At 45k points you are getting $0.0288, which matches points with British, without the fee, and double points value.
To redeem this flight, you can transfer your Chase or Amex points to British Airways Avios to book your American Airlines flight through British Airways.
