We started by searching for the outgoing flight in Business Class from Austin to Mumbai. At $8,100 for a one-way flight this is looking like a pricey venture. We checked our airlines to see if we could find a better deal with points.
Fly to Mumbai 95k Points on Delta
Our first search was on Delta. Ringing up at $8,108 this 95k flight is giving you $0.085 per point. Not a bad option but I think we can do better. So we searched the next airline.
Fly to Mumbai in Business Class for 85k Points on United
Next we searched United where a $8,190 ticket at 85k points gives you $0.096 per point. Here we find that United is superior to Delta for a number of reasons. Firstly, you are using 10k fewer points, secondly, you are getting a return of $0.011 more on your points, your fees are less than half those on Delta, not to mention the fact that you arrive two hours earlier.
