How to Fly to London for Just 16.25k Points

It’s never been a better time to visit London in terms of the power of the Dollar to the Pound. Each $1 is worth .81 Pound Sterling, and going back to the Great Recession, each $1 was only worth .5 Pound Sterling, a 62% increase.

Flights to London from Dallas DFW are pretty pricey though, but thanks to the power of airline miles, one-way flights are just 16.5k miles each way. Keep reading to see how we transfer points and the best ways to score more credit card points.

Our Recommendation

We start every search by hopping on Google and looking for the shortest, most direct flight. In our case, there’s flights from British Airways and American, clocking in at 9 hours and a whopping $2,291 each way in economy, which is quite pricey.

16.25k Miles Using British Airways Avios

Our first stop was to checkout British Airways and search for our desired origin and destination. We found a number of flights available every day of our search for next month.

One of the flights we found was just 16.25k miles and $224 in fees. If we calculate the price per point ($2291-224) / 16,250, we get a whopping $.12 value per point. This is the highest value we’ve ever come across in our five year history of flight hacking, so this is an amazing value.

Transfer Amex or Chase Points to British Airways

To transfer points to British Airways, our preferred programs are the Chase Ultimate Rewards and American Express Membership Rewards.

Each program transfers points instantly or in under 24 hours and both transfer at a 1:1 ratio.

How to Get 80k Chase Points

Based on the current cards you have, our recommendation is to get the Chase Ink Business Preferred Credit Card, which has an 100k sign up bonus, after spending $15,000 in the first 3 months, easily enough points for a roundtrip flight to London with bonus points left over for a trip to Brazil.
