“5 Rooms, 5 Days, 5 Pinners, and you.”
Apt. CB2 is a contest where Pinterest users have the power to design a Manhattan apartment by liking their favorite furniture and home decor on the website. Starting May 7th and running until the 11th, the aim of the project is to create the first virtually designed space, an apartment near Union Square, through the collaboration of millions of people across the US. With five main ‘pinners’ selecting the furniture and decor to be voted on, all of the rooms are assembled live. The already completed rooms are sped up versions of the live feed, and you can witness the rooms being designed from start to finish. The contest aspect of the sweepstakes is a chance to win up to $5,000 in room decor, straight from the Pinterest boards used for Apt. CB2.
It’s quite an interesting thing to witness, and I suggest you all check it out. Enter the sweepstakes here.

If you’re on Pinterest, you can browse the Apt. CB2 board and pin killer end tables and sheepskin throws to your own ‘Future Home’ board, and if you don’t have an account…well you might reconsider that. This collaboration, and its success, will spark countless other virtual social media collaborations. The strength of the internet is flexing its figurative bicep and showing us all just what we can come together to do. Pretty neat stuff.
