7 Experiences You Can Only Have in Singapore

The 7 Most Exciting Things to Do in Singapore

Changi Airport has become internationally recognized for its luxurious features, including a butterfly garden, full waterfall and spas. However, this small country has so much more than this incredible airport. Whether you arrive by plane or by sea, one trip is not enough to see all that this nation offers. While there are many amazing spots, follow this guide for seven of the most exciting ones to help you plan your next Singaporean vacation.

Sentosa

Once you disembark from your Singapore cruise or flight, your first stop should be Sentosa Island. If you want to relax on the white sand beaches or get some thrills at Universal Studios, this incredible resort has something for everyone of all ages. Before you leave, no trip would be complete without catching one of the dancing fountain shows found on the Island. Don’t forget to book your tickets before you arrive to save you time.

Night Safari

After a day of sun and fun at Sentosa, you’re not done yet. Singapore is home to the world’s first nocturnal wildlife park. You can see a variety of animals here in their night habitats, including wildcats and binturongs. While there, you can catch a tram ride offering a guided tour of the park or join the Keeper’s Chit Chat to learn more about the animals. If you get hungry, there is a restaurant on-site offering delicious Singaporean treats.

Orchard Road

Wei and I first visited Singapore back in 2016, it was part of a weeks long trip to Thailand and eventually Tokyo, and to this day I can still remember the sheer magnitude of the Marina Bay Sands, or MBS as locals call it.

We put together a list of 7 other unforgettable experiences you can have in Singapore.

For those who are looking for the best place to shop, Orchard Road is the answer. This shopping paradise hosts the latest brands and trends throughout its many shops. Start by getting a taste of the future at the ION Orchard or soaking up some Singaporean shopping history at TANGS, Singapore’s oldest department store. After your shopping is done, take a break at one of the many amazing restaurants, cafes, or rare whiskey bars found here.

Chinatown

Singapore is divided into 28 unique neighborhoods, each with distinct offerings. Among these, Singapore’s Chinatown neighborhood has earned an international reputation for its food, shopping and bars. The maze of streets offers surprises around every bend and activities for everyone. You can easily spend hours getting lost in the diaspora of the neighborhood. Don’t forget to visit some of the food vendors for some truly amazing treats.

Marina Bay Sands

If you’ve looked at pictures of Singapore, then you have encountered images of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. This iconic hotel has been immortalized in films such as Crazy Rich Asians and shows like The Amazing Race, and with good cause. This architectural triumph has become synonymous with the Singaporean skyline. While you are visiting, be sure to check out the rooftop infinity pool for an unforgettable view.

Gardens by the Bay

Ever since Singapore displayed its Supertree grove, these mechanical delights have caught the eyes of travelers from around the globe. Gardens by the Bay has quickly become one of Singapore’s most popular attractions. You can visit during the day, to soak up all the greenery in the sun, or the evening when the trees come to life full of light. Just don’t forget to walk the OCBC Skyway for a birds-eye view of the Gardens.

Street Food Tour

No visit to Singapore would complete without enjoying some of the local cuisines. There is nowhere better to enjoy this food than the streets. Singaporean street food, found in hawker centers, gives you an insider’s look at the rich cultural diversity that makes up the country. The locals cook their food with pride, which has even earned some Michelin stars. No matter what else you do in Singapore, be sure to visit a hawker to try some of the delicious food options.

Whatever your preferences are, Singapore has something for you. Don’t be surprised if you are booking yourself a second trip before you leave. Take the time to plan ahead to make the most out of your visit.
