Li Bingbing Biography

Li Bingbing is one of China’s top actresses. Her special charm comes not only from her beauty and glamour but also from the modesty and sincerity revealed by her speech and manner. Her performance in the role of a kindhearted policewoman in the movie Back Home for the New Year, directed by Zhang Yuan, is widely considered her best. Although hampered by a policewoman’s heavy winter uniform all through the movie, Li turned in a stunningly vivid performance.

She was born in Qingdao, China year 1981, September 16. Although she is not yet popular in America, she is a widely popular celebrity in her home country. She ranked in the Top 10 of Forbes China Celebrity 100, and even has a wax figure of herself at Madame Tussaud’s in Shanghai. She has earned the nickname “Fan Ye” from her fans, as “Ye” means generous.

Fan graduated from Shanghai Xie Jin’s Star School and Shanghai Theatre Academy. She originally wanted to become a dancer, but she fell in love with television drama, instead. She rose to stardom in a Chinese television drama “Princess Pearl” and its sequel. She subsequently appeared in a variety of Chinese movies.
She released her debut album in 2005 through Warner Music Beijing Company. It was entitled “Just Begun.”

In 2007, she opened her own studio, Fan Bingbing Studios.

In 2008, Fan started her own arts school, and served as its principal, even though her parents ran the school. Throughout all of these enterprises, Fan kept acting.

In 2012, she focused on fashion, appearing as a global spokesperson on behalf of Paris L’Oreal. She has become a fashion icon, with her many appearances on the red carpet. Fan said when she was a little girl her mother owned a boutique and she devoured fashion magazines. “I fell in love with dressing myself up” (vanityfair.com). Her first inspiration was Greta Garbo, but she has evolved into a mix of Dita Von Teese and Lady Gaga.

Fan Bingbing said she can never leave the house without her red lipstick. “It makes me look alive.” She added in a later interview, “I have nothing to explain. As for being misunderstood, I have grown accustomed to that…I don’t like to pretend to be polite. What you see is what you get.”

Though she has won awards, Fan Bingbing said, “Awards are not the only markers of success; I don’t judge myself just based on them. I believe that each cinema-goer has his own mental trophies.”

She also joined the cast of “Iron Man 3,” portraying a nurse in the film.

To keep her clear complexion, Fan Bingbing carries an umbrella when she’s outdoors; always wears sunscreen even when sitting in front of a computer; and she never drinks coffee or other caffeinated drinks. She also uses facial masks, at least 600 sheets of facial masks a year (travel.cnn.com). She thinks Chinese beauty is always graceful and reserved while western beauty is more free and outgoing.

Fan Bingbing’s vice is laziness and she enjoys staying in bed. The thing that makes her sad is loneliness.

Fan Bingbing said, “As you grow older, you will feel both life and time are fleeting, so enjoy your life with full strength.”
