Gemma Chan is a British actress but before that, she was actually a model before. Besides that, she attended Worcester College, Oxford University and graduated with the degree in law. She also earned a Diploma of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music for her skills with playing the violin.

 

She fled to Scotland together with her grandparents when she young before the Cultural Revolution. It never crossed her mind to become an actress when she was young. She actually hoped to a marine biologist then astrophysicist and work for NASA.

 

During high school, she discovered her passion to acting and took all her courage to audition for drama school.

 

As a model before, she always worked hard to avoid the model-turned-actress label. “I knew I wasn’t going to be doing it for the rest of my life. You’re treated very impersonally, told where to stand and how to pose. If you’ve got a nice photographer and there’s a cool concept, you can, to an extent, act it, but more often than not you’re expected to be a blank sheet,” she admitted in an interview.

 

“What’s great about acting is that you get to step into all these different pairs of shoes and pretend to be lots of different people.”

 

Right now, she is currently not acting. She’s busy dating comedian/actor Jack Whitehall who she met on “Fresh Meat” in 2011.

 

She is currently living in London, England.
