Nike History
The brand that needs no introduction, Nike, has been at the top since their debut in 1964 (originally named Blue Ribbon Sports, changing to Nike in 1971). Founded by University of Oregon track star Philip Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman, Nike was originally a distributor for a Japanese shoe company (who is currently known as Asics) making the majority of their sales at track meets out of Knight's car.
As the brand grew and dropped the Blue Ribbon name, they patented the globally recognized "swoosh" and history was made. You can now find Nike conquering every corner of the sporting world.
