Alexis, had a background in eCommerce at eBay and AOL, and Alexandra, with a background in luxury goods from Bulgari and Louis Vuitton, formed a strong backbone to what would become Gilt. They promoted their website to savvy shoppers across the country, and granted them with the best designer brands and services to be featured on Gilt.com.
All together, this team created a new way for millions of consumers to shop curated styles, goods and services, all at insider pricing.

The local services section, allows you to search discounted things to do around the city closest to you. The experience section allows you to find discounted and curated, travel packages.
Just like with sample sales, you have to be the first one there to get the best items. This same concept applies to Gilt.com. The website does the heavy work for you --- find the merchandise, and getting as much inventory of it as they can, also lowering the prices as much as possible. But, you have to be responsible of signing in early, and getting first dibs. Basically, you snooze, you lose. They do provide customers with notifications prior to the sales on specific designers. Along with those notifications, you will get bios on the particular designers and a short video that will allow you to preview their products.
Someone who would shop on Gilt, is someone who likes the finer things in life, but is on some sort of a budget, or simply likes to be smart with money. Someone who likes to get the best of both worlds, essentially.
