To celebrate the Cinco de Mayo on May 1st, Don Julio Tequila prepared a special VIP boat ride as well as Airstream Speakeasy mobile bar, serving delicious cocktails with Mexican flavor. The mobile bespoke bar will be traveling across the nation throughout the entire summer, with plenty stops and refreshments, before ending the journey on Mexican Independence Day in September in Huston.
Airstream Speakeasy will be connecting with people all around U.S. and spreading the passion of Don Julio Tequila. The tacos were amazing as were the drinks.
I particularly enjoyed trying Don Julio Real and the Anejo. I was only familiar with Silver, the clear tequila (as I suspect most people are). The Real retails for $370, and like the Anejo is aged in old whiskey barrels, which adds depth and color to the spirit.
I was drinking it neat and on the rocks and both were amazing. One of the Don Julio pros recommended substituting Anejo in any whiskey based cocktail, so I’m going to try that out in the next old fashioned I make.

Don Julio Recipes
Don Julio Margarita
Ingredients:
1 1/2 ounces Tequila Don Julio Blanco
1/2 ounces Fresh Lime Juice
1/2 ounces Agave Nectar
Lime Wedge
Preparation:
1. Combine Tequila Don Julio Blanco, fresh lime juice and agave nectar into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well.
2. Strain into a rocks glass over ice.
3. Garnish with a lime wedge.
Ideal Serving Glass:

Yield:
1 drinks, no drink contains more than 0.6 fluid ounces of alcohol
Reposado paloma
Ingredients:
1 1/4 ounces Tequila Don Julio Reposado
2/3 ounces Grapefruit Cordial
1/2 ounces Fresh Lime Juice
Soda Water
Candied Grapefruit Peel
Preparation:
1. Combine Tequila Don Julio Reposado, grapefruit cordial and fresh lime juice into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well.
2. Strain into a highball glass over ice.
3. Top with soda water.
4. Garnish with candied grapefruit peel.

Añejo Highball
Ingredients:
1 1/4 ounces Tequila Don Julio Añejo
1/3 ounces Orange Liqueur
1/4 teaspoon Fresh Lime Juice
Ginger Beer
Lime Wedge
Preparation:
1. Combine Tequila Don Julio Añejo, orange liqueur and fresh lime juice into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well.
2. Strain into a highball glass over ice.
3. Top with Ginger Beer.
4. Garnish with a lime wedge.

2/3 ounce Italian Aperitif
1 1/3 ounces Fresh Grapefruit Juice
