If you missed the National Rum Day celebrated on August 16th, there’s only one way to make it up – with a fizzy drink. For today’s cocktail suggestions we turn to Zacapa Rum, a one-of-a-kind spirit that’s aged 2300 meters above sea level in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. One of the highest ageing facilities in the world produces exceptional flavours, deep aromas and full colours.
Zacapa 23 contains a blend of rums from 6 to 23 years old which makes it a perfect choice for mixing with other spirits and soft drinks. New York City mixologist Lynnette Marrero came up with fun suggestions using the barrel-aged rum in signature cocktails including a tiki drink, daiquiri and fizz.

Cocktail recipes from Zacapa Rum

ZACAPA GOLDEN IDOL
Ingredients:
1 ounce Zacapa Rum 23
1/3 ounce Myers Dark Rum
1/2 ounces Fresh Lemon Juice
1/8 ounce Demerara Syrup
1 dash Angostura Bitters
Preparation:
Combine Zacapa Rum 23, Myers Dark Rum, fresh lemon juice, demerara syrup and Angostura bitters into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well.
Strain contents into a double rocks glass.
Ideal Serving Glass:
Double Rocks glass

1 drink, no drink contains more than 0.6 fluid ounces of alcohol
DAQUIRI-EASED
Ingredients:
1 1/2 ounces Zacapa Rum 23
2 ounces Sparkling Water
3/4 ounce Lavender Honey*
3/4 ounce Blueberry Shrub**
Lavender and Lime Wheel for Garnish
*To create Lavender Honey:
Ingredients:
1 cup Lavender Tea
1 cup Honey
Preparation:
Brew 1 cup of lavender tea.
Add to 1 cup of honey and mix well.
**To create Blueberry Shrub:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups Apple Cider Vinegar
1 cup Ripe Blueberries (or Organic Frozen Berries)
2 tbsp Agave
Preparation:
Place 1 cup of ripe blueberries into 1 1/2 cups of apple cider vinegar. Cover and let sit for two days.
Once desired blueberry flavor is achieved, strain.
Gently heat shrub. (Do not boil)
Turn off heat.
Add 2 tablespoons of agave to the mix.
Add more agave if desired.
Preparation:
Combine Zacapa Rum 23, sparkling water, lavender honey and blueberry shrub into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well.
Strain contents into a highball glass.
Garnish with lavender and lime wheel.

BRIGHT EYED FIZZ
Ingredients:
1 1/2 ounces Zacapa Rum 23
2 ounces Sparkling Water
3/4 ounce Fresh Lemon Juice
1/2 ounce Honey
1/4 ounce Fresh Ginger Extract
1/4 tsp Ground Cardamom
1/4 tsp Ground Turmeric
Preparation:
Combine Zacapa Rum 23, fresh lemon juice, honey, fresh ginger extract, ground cardamom and ground turmeric into a cocktail shaker. Shake well.
Strain contents into highball glass over ice.
Top with sparkling water.
Ideal Serving Glass:
