The new Suites Class seats are one of the best in the sky

Singapore Airlines updated their A380s with new seats in first, business, premium economy, and economy classes. The Suites Class product is competing with Etihad’s Apartment, and the final product gets close if not better, and personally I like the routes Singapore flies much better than Etihad, so to me this is the best cabin in the sky.

Right now, as of December 2017, the only flights that have been updated are flights from Singapore to Sydney. The flight is flight SQ221, and it leaves Singapore at 20:40 and arrives in Sydney at 07:40 (8 hour flight time).

These renovations cost $850 million, and you can see that in the quality

The innovations of the aircraft cost approximately $850 million. There are 471 seats in total and they are divided into four cabins. On the upper deck, you will see six first-class suites and 78 business class seats, and on the main deck, there are 44 premium economy seats and 343 economy seats.

Singapore Airlines: Suites with a View

These cabins are like hotel rooms but just 35,000 feet above the ground. The airline revealed the suites to significant individuals with two pillows, a cotton comforter for a 27″ by 76″ bed. In the first two suites, the beds of each aisle can be put together as one whole bed so the two members can sleep together, it’s best for couples.
The passengers will also get slippers, shades, and socks. The suites are located at the upper deck of the aircraft.

New First Class Suites

The first class cabin has the largest and the most creative changes. Before the innovation, there were 12 first class suites in A380, yet the latter only has 6 suites. The 6 suites come with many features, they have perfectly flat beds and individual leather recliners, the passengers are free to lean backward comfortably on the recliners without inverting them into a bed.

There are 32″ HD screens which are motorized, they can be adjusted so that passengers are able to watch entertainment from different angles. In addition, the widening of the suite space gives the airline to have more choices in storage. There is a closet that can fit a standard-size carry on bag equipped in the suite.

Storage Spaces

In the past years, the widest space in first class was offered by Etihad Airways, and now Singapore Airline A380 aircraft has this feature. The two airlines have the same focus in the industry, however, Singapore Airline is merchandising its first class product to possibly become the best of its kind.

Lavatories

One WC is not enough! There are two bathrooms in first class suites. One is for necessity and one is for your beauty things.

New Business Class Experience: Upgraded Meals, Double Beds

In business class, the alterations are not quite much. The seats are still same in size and setup. The composition of the seats have changed, they now have a carbon fiber, giving more room for the storage of the passengers. The aisle seats can transform into a double bed and has its own encasement with a barrier in between seats giving the passengers their personal space.

Other people do not really want much privacy, if that’s the case, travelers can set the divider down so that they can share the seats’ bed with the other passenger. There are an in-seat power and an 18″ touchscreen monitor on each shell providing the travelers’ convenience, entertainment, and comfort.

New Premium Economy Class

Premium economy class won’t notice much difference from the airline. The only big thing that changed is that the premium seats are located on the nose of the A380 instead of being directly behind the first class seats.

The new premium economy also has new fabrication, it has similar features with the business class but it just comes with the regular premium economy seat.

In front of each is seat has 13.3-inch full HD monitor for you to watch some movies during the flight. It also has an AC port to charge your devices. One more thing is that it has a personal reading light, cocktail table and some storage space for your personal belongings.

The New A380 Cabin Layout

A380 Increased Capacity

The main thing about this announcement is the number of seats that are available and not the new ones. First class seats are cut in half it’s because of the low demand for ultra-premium seats.

Though, taking seats in other cabins will increase. Economy and Premium economy are expected to increase because of its seating demands and this factor will help with the profit of the A380.

The first class seats have captured the attention of many but the other cabins will be the number one reason to help the Airline. Singapore Airline also follows an industry-wide focus on its business class since loads of passengers are taking it rather than the first class seats. Due to this, the airline increased the number of business class seats to 78 from its original number which is 60.

Singapore Airlines’ Future Growth Plan

The only thing to be argued about is that it only adds surplus capacity to the airline market that already sees some spare seats but the strategy made by the airline follows the same growth plan as what the United Airlines made in their previous earnings.

Singapore Airlines growth plan: to make a larger volume with the routes and fills the seats. This can be done and achieved by presiding bigger share and attracting attention from the existing markets.

The new comfortable products in their economy cabin make Singapore Airlines ahead and in a great position to have more income.
