British Airways Jet Catches Fire In Las Vegas

British Airways Jet Catches Fire in Las Vegas

Fire at McCarran International Airport

A British Airways jet heading from Las Vegas to London caught fire during takeoff Tuesday afternoon. The Boeing 777’s left engine caught fire right as the plane was about to take off, leaving black clouds of smoke to engulf the runway.

The crew deployed the cool slides you never want to have to take a ride on, and everyone made it out and onto the runway safely. There were several minor injuries reported, but nothing life threatening.

Delays in Vegas

Thanks to the British shit-show on the runway, flights both leaving and arriving in Vegas were delayed by roughly 45 minutes. Which, come to think of it, doesn’t seem too bad.

As of 7:45 PM Tuesday evening everything was running and back to normal at McCarran, with only that runway closed for now.

Marijuana Creates Tax Surplus In Colorado

Marijuana Creates Tax Surplus in Colorado

Colorado has made so much money from weed, it may be giving some back

Colorado has made roughly $50 million in the last year selling nearly 150,000 lbs of marijuana to its happy residents.

Well apparently that’s more tax revenue than the green state was allowed, and thanks to an amendment passed in 1992, that means the state should make it rain on their people. What does Colorado owes its citizens if it decides to pay up? A whooping $7.63. Not even enough to buy a bag of weed.

The Senate Doesn’t Think You Need that $7.63

While technically the state owes these pot enthusiasts a little cash, they feel the money could be pool and better used elsewhere.

Voters originally agreed for the first $40 million in revenue to be used towards the construction of schools, and the Senate President believes they should keep looking in that direction.

As we see it, no matter where that money goes that is some awesome revenue for the state, and Colorado should be proud of themselves for giggling their way into $50 million, nice work.

Serena Williams Takes Down Her Older Sister At U.s. Open

Serena Williams Takes Down Her Older Sister at U.S. Open

Little sister wins the battle

Serena and Venus Williams squared up once again at the U.S. Open, with younger sister Serena coming out on top with an ace to end the whole thing.

Winning 6-2, 1-6, 6-3, Serena dropped 12 aces on big sis, knocking Venus out of the Open and bringing herself on to face Italian Roberta Vinci, who Serena has bested every time they’ve faced each other in past matches.

Grand Slam Potential

This is a huge deal because Serena is now only two wins away from completing her first Grand Slam, and the first completed by a female since 1988.

Serena has won all three of the previous majors in 2015, and it looks like she’s well on her way to kick some ass in this one as well.

Tune in Thursday evening at 7:00 PM EST to watch Serena make her run for the Slam.
